IVNVI FORENSICS SOCIETY
UNIVERSITY OF TORONTO MISSISSAUGA
OUR TEAM
President
TYNE MITCHELL
Hi everyone! My name is Tyne Mitchell, and I am a fourth-year Forensic Chemistry Specialist student! For the past two years, I have had the opportunity to join the IVNVI Forensics Society Team as the secretary. I am incredibly excited to continue with the society, taking on the role of President for the upcoming 2024-25 academic year. While in this position, I look forward to continuing hosting interactive events, networking opportunities, and connect with fellow members! A bit about me; I started in forensic science because I fell in love with Ted Danson at a young age! My all-time favourite show is the original CSI: Crime Scene Investigation; I have watched every episode at least three times! I have a strong interest in forensic identification and Bloodstain Pattern Analysis. I am excited to see what the IVNVI Forensics Society achieves this year!
Vice President
ZAINAB ZAKARIA
Hello! I'm Zainab and I'm in my third year. I'm honoured to be joining the IVNVI again now as Vice-President. I've had various roles in the IVNVI over the past few years and I've enjoyed each one of them. I encourage anyone with an interest in forensics to get involved with our amazing community here at UTM. A little bit about me is I love horseback riding and catching up on sleep. Looking forward to our year together!
Secretary
CHARLESON CAO
Hi! My name is Charleson and I am the secretary of IVNVI for 24/25 year. I am currently in my second year specializing in Forensic Biology. My passion for forensic science began from an anime called “Case Closed”. I was extremely intrigued by the crime solving process and how the characters can uncover so much from such little evidence. I’m excited to meet everybody at our events this school year! Don’t hesitate to reach out to me! I am always happy to answer questions or chat.
Treasurer
HILLARY MOON
Hi everyone! I’m Hillary. I just finished my first year and am entering the forensic chemistry program. Last year, I met so many passionate and interesting people through the events I held as a year representative, and I am thrilled to meet more of you! I love watching all genres of movies, talking about chemistry or physics and getting good food. And if you are a first-year student skimming through our page—I was in your shoes just a year ago—don’t hesitate to reach out! Please contact me if you want to chat about anything (courses, programs, etc)! Also, look out for cute merch 👀👀
Year Representative Chair
SALMA EL-ETREBY
Hey forensic folks! I'm Sal, your fourth year forensic anthropology year rep chair! Some of you may know me as your study group leader or mentor, but this year I’ll be overseeing all your favourite IVNVI events. Besides school, I like practicing archery, playing volleyball, and playing/watching horror games/movies (my roommate and I need more people to play Phasmophobia with)! I also volunteer to excavate the Oakville Milton Humane Society’s pet cemetery, which I hope to continue post-grad. I like to think that I’m outgoing and friendly, so please do not hesitate to reach out to me any time! I’m beyond excited to be your Year Rep Chair this year and I’m looking forward to what the year holds for the IVNVI and the forensics community at UTM :)
Public Relations Officer
JUN PARK
Hi everyone! My name is Jun and I will be a public relations officer this upcoming year! I am going into my 4th year in the Forensic Psychology Specialist program! Some of my hobbies include sports (soccer & basketball) and playing video games. Academically, I have always been fascinated by the intersection of psychology and the legal system, and forensic identification (FSC300 and FSC302 are my favourite courses!). I am very excited to work alongside this amazing team and also with all of you who are/will be part of this amazing club. Always feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or ideas, or to be friends! Looking forward to seeing you all in September!
Public Relations Officer
MAJA TING
Hey hey! I’m Maja, and I’m so excited to be one of your Public Relations Officers for the 2024-25 school year. I’m in my fourth and hopefully final year of a Forensic Biology Specialist with an especial interest in genetics and population genetics. I love my program, this department, and this community, and I’m honoured to be part of such a hard-working, kind, and smart group of people. I’m looking forward to meeting you and connecting you with the many events & opportunities that the IVNVI has to offer!
